The inauguration ceremony of Munem Wasif's solo visual art exhibition titled 'Kromosho‘, dedicated to the Bengal Arts Program was organized on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 6 pm. For more than two decades, Munem Wasif's image-making has been constantly evolving within the same work, sometimes changing directions. During this time, there is the reality of the complex transformation of Old Dhaka, which is also a picture of the ups and downs of everyday life. |
On the occasion of Munem Wasif's ongoing exhibition 'Kromosho‘, historians, writers, architects, organizers, and teachers who grew up in Old Dhaka have gathered at Bengal Shilpalay at various times for an open discussion. 'Kromosho‘ means "increasingly or gradually changing." This exhibition is about memories, experiences, stories and thoughts centered on Old Dhaka. |
Munem Wasif's work often explores ideas of transience and insecurity through a combination of photography, moving images, archival documents and collected materials. He has recently researched colonial history and the associated agriculture, economy and lifestyle of the township. Wasif was awarded the Robert Gardner Fellowship in 2023 for her work on the history of indigo cultivation in Bengal. |
