Seven colors of rainbow, harmony of musical tunes, poetic smell of nature inspires the random strokes on canvas to express the feelings of my mind. The nature which is full of wonders and unlimited joy has brought love and only Love. Nature is the unlimited treasure of my painting. From the very childhood, I was surrounded by nature and music. Green horizon, sparkling water of the ponds, moonlit nights, southern breeze, colorful flowers, symphonies amused me. Colors of music and colors of nature came to me altogether. Both enriched my feelings and compelled me of brush my inner self on my canvas. Woman and Nature are synonymous to me. Beauty of an woman reflects the nature and I tried to depict this romantic outlook in an abstract form. -Shumona Haque |

Late Atiqul Haque Chowdhury (renowned playwright, director, teacher and cultural figure of Bangladesh), said about artist Shumona Haque in 2011: "Shumona Haque is both a vocalist and a painter par excellence. She has been delineating paintings ardently for years. Her paintings provide the audience with distinctive bright colours. It is neither simply a stroke of brush nor the form of lines, rather the manifestations of a myriad of bright colours. Her paintings certainly have depth. Her paintings express serenity amidst disorder and fortitude amidst restlessness. Her lines and colours always change from time to time but this change of lines and colours have made Shumona Haque build up a rapport with life. Her paintings can not but enchant the viewers thoroughly, stirring their hearts and making them spell- bound. She not only has created an effort of light and shade with the help of various colours but her controlled artistic existence has been projected as well. The stroke of her brush can move easily but her expressions are full of passions and emotions. Her works are nothing but an excellent fusion of light and colours which overcome the periphery of grammar creating a musical orchestration." |
