This floating school was built to provide education to children in flood-prone areas. Architect Mohammad Rezwan grew up in the Chalanbil area, where schools were closed every year due to floods. From that experience, he invented a unique solution in 2002. Converting local boats into schools, it is known as the world's first floating school. Today, these solar-powered boats serve as schools, libraries and training centers, helping to continue education throughout the year even in villages that are flooded during the monsoon. UNESCO praised the initiative, saying, "The success of this floating school lies in delivering education through locally developed innovative methods among marginalized communities in flood-prone areas." |
