Sena Kunjo has always been a landmark for the people living in Dhaka city, specifically In the Dhaka Cantonment area. As the venue holds official events of Bangladesh Armed Forces as well as used for wedding ceremonies and other social gatherings, this community hall beholds a salient significance and it was much needed for the authority to give it a modification thoroughly. Hence, “Studio Dhaka” was assigned to incorporate many more necessities for the community hall with the existing one.

The total vast landscape was redesigned surrounding the existing structure with more greens and even a water body, including a podium, where the honorable Prime Minister can stand and give a speech for some official event.

The ground floor is mostly occupied with the basic functional requirements like food service lift, dish wash area, ablution, office with CCTV and fire alert system, and an open hall for programs. The main attraction of first floor is the double-height community hall with the facilities of green room and PM room for salient programs. The food service area and lift both have been designed considering the large-scale program affiliation and mass gathering.

The first floor of the structure depicts how exponentially a space can be epitome of grandeur with an extension of height and the main hall can accommodate false ceiling of this hall is redesigned in such a way that gives the hall a grand expression as it demands.

The main concept behind designing the hall was very prominent and straight forward. We wanted to restore the traditional ambiance with a very contemporary attributes through dialogue of architecture. As the old one was embellished with tones of memories and it would be very hard to overlook that part.

The outer area of the hall has always been the meet and greet space and we tried to redesign it through interactive landscape that will not only be an outdoor space rather would welcome everyone with soothing entrance. The previous design had a waterbody which we had to eliminate to hold the entire outdoor area in a unique way.

The metal screen of the community hall with a different pattern has added a visionary view to the exterior. The color and texture of the screen was designed in such a way that it does not create any overpowering effect. The metal screen is now amalgamating with the building structure in a finer way.

There are two terracotta walls that create a contrasting impression in accordance with the metal and RCC casting. The two terracotta wall are nothing but the depiction of our native culture and custom. One wall illustrates the heroic scene of the father of the nation inspiring thousands of people to free the country from the heinous rule of Pakistan. The lines still give us enormous courage to face any of the hostility against our country. The other terracotta wall is full of lively expression of our countrymen. The straight pavement towards the entrance has divided the whole outdoor in a symmetrical way. The grandeur of the interior space, the newer approach of landscape has added a rational value to the project with a more compatible architectural solutions.
