Krishi Market is one of the key vigorous spaces within Mohammadpur. It was established under the ownership of the directorate of agriculture ministry for agricultural marketing of Bangladesh. From then, this market served as the storage hub of rice and lentils for entire Mohammadpur and Adabor Thana. At present, Krishi market has 150 storage shops. In 1982 the ownership of the market was taken over by the Dhaka City Corporation and Krishi Market kacha bazar was established. The kacha bazar has 400 shops where garments, groceries, jewelry, plastic items and household products, stationery, vegetables, fish and meat are sold. |

• These area has a serious shortage of open and green space according to the standard of DMDP and DAP [2010]. Mohammadpur area needs aprox. 40 acres and has 10 acres while adabor thana has 5 acres and needed 20 acres open space as well. • Dap {2015} marked this area as a commercial zone • According to urban planner arrot location is not good for society . |
CONCEPT/IDEA DEVELOPMENT: The initial idea was to bring back the social vibe of our village market while considering the land value, site force and what it could be in the future according to DAP . A bazar is usually used as a gathering space for people which also has a great economic side. But in this metro city lack of public space for social gathering make people more asocial. Spaces are re-proposed to attract businesses, cultural establishments, and community services, fostering economic growth and social interaction as Krishi Market already became a land mark for the area. |

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT: The location of the kitchen market is difficult for locals and lacks accessibility. While on the other hand, the arrot market’s location is prominent though it requires less exposure. Thus it presents a challenge in terms of ensuring equitable access for the community. • Promoting walkability, which encourages residents to walk by creating a pedestrian-friendly atmosphere. KEY FEATURES: Diversity attracts a wider range of people, expanding the market’s customer base. |
